Philosophy:
When I taught elementary school I didn't have any children. I was a young newlywed and loved spending my days with a classroom full of great kids. Now that I have children of my own I look at teaching with a different perspective than I had before. You are entrusting me with the most special and precious thing in your life. I don't take that responsibility lightly. I am so excited to help your child gain a love for learning. There is nothing better than watching children gain confidence as they learn new skills. Each child is unique and they will learn in different ways. Some kids are auditory learners and some are visual or kinesthetic and because of that, teaching will happen in many different ways in our classroom. There are many important skills to learn at this stage of life.
Curriculum:
*Your child will be taught phonics-based reading skills focused on a letter of the week. It is important to begin with letters and sounds and then move towards blending and segmenting words.
*Your child will learn shapes, colors, numbers, patterns, sorting, and simple addition.
*Your child will learn through music and movement.
*Your child will learn gross and fine motor skills.
*Your child will practice listening and following one and two step directions.
*Your child will learn play and social skills. Children learn a lot from playing and interacting with their peers. This is a great way to diversify learning.
